The FiLMiC Pro team has much to be thankful for this year. For starters, this past fall, we launched our completely redesigned version of FiLMiC Pro for iOS 9. The team has been hard at work with successive updates to provide a Pro video experience that is unlike any other.
We are proud of our team and especially our customers. Many of you have already seen the fruits of this labor in the films that people have been bringing to life and posting on Vimeo and YouTube and proclaiming on Twitter or Facebook. Including the the recent release of ‘Dark Waves’ by Sven Dreesbach, which has captivated the creative community.
There are countless projects in the works that have or will come to the film festival circuit. It is only a matter of time before the next Tangerine takes center stage.
This holiday season, it is fitting to offer to the world our FiLMiC Pro product for the first time on the Android platform.
Our Android release is the culmination of many months of hard work by our development team and our beta testers. Android is a dynamic but challenging platform to develop a product like ours. Our initial offering is for devices running Lollipop and higher operating systems and that fully support Android’s Camera2 api. Camera2 is a more full-featured OS support for a device’s camera controls and allows us to offer the broadest array of functional support befitting the FiLMiC Pro label. For more information on Camera2 support and why it matters we suggest this article from SpectraStudy at the time of last year’s Mobile World Congress.
The current list of devices that adhere to this level of support are as follows:
Google: Nexus 6P, Nexus 5, Nexus 9 LTE, Nexus 9, Nexus 6, Nexus 5X
Intel: SurfTab xintron i 7.0, Cloudpad One 7.0
LGE: V10, LG G Vista 2, LG G Flex2, LG G4

2016 should be a vibrant year for Android growth. There are rumors that Google will enforce new requirements on the minimum API and hardware support for devices on their platform. As we continue our Android development we will look to broaden our support for more devices and will monitor closely the plans that Google has in store for their platform as well as the offerings of the Android hardware community.
Our Android release is in keeping with FiLMiC’s philosophy to democratize filmmaking, mobile journalism and videography. We look forward to see what the FiLMiC Android community will bring to the world.
We wish you all a happy holiday season and a prosperous and healthy new year.
And one more thing…
iOS users can expect big things in 2016 as we kick off the new year with an exciting update. It’s only ‘a matter of time.’
